Often Made of a mix of gold and silver called electrum, these early coins were minted around 600 BCE in the kingdom of Lydia in the modern country of Turkey. Known to history since the records of ancient Egypt and the Hittite Empire in the Late Bronze Age,
Lycia was a historical province of Anatolia. The remaining relics of this historically important region are still visible today. This major Hellenic area full of centers of worship, temples and ruins. Jewel of the Eastern Mediterranean, Lycia is the final stop of the Blue Voyage along the Turkish coast nowadays.
