The ETRUSCAN cross is a unique artifact dating back to the 3rd century BCE Etruscan period. Handcrafted in 24k solid gold and set with turquoise glass, the aging patina adds a characteristic quality along with the artisanal craftsmanship of the Etruscan civilization. The cross is made from a uncommon limestone that resembles a marble texture and is adorned with 4 baroque pearls on each end. This unique artifact truly reflects the cultural heritage of the Etruscans.
The Etruscan civilization flourished between the 8th and 3rd century BCE and was known for its rich mineral resources and Mediterranean trading power. Unfortunately, much of their culture and history was either destroyed or assimilated by Rome, but their legacy lives on through artifacts like this Etruscan cross.
The Etruscans were renowned for their mastery of bronze craftsmanship and their exportation of finely worked bronzes throughout the Mediterranean. The Romans drew inspiration from Etruscan gold jewelry, incorporating elements like the bulla necklace pendants and filigree decoration into their own designs. Over time, Italian characteristics began to influence jewelry styles in Pompeii and Rome.
