This amethyst is hand engraved with the Owl of Athene Noctua. The intaglio is representing the owl of Athena. It is said to have been kept on the shoulder of Athena in order to reveal the truth of the world to her, and thus also represent the literal wisdom and knowledge of Athena in her role as a goddess of wisdom.
