The PONTUS necklace is entirely hand-sculpted by Rafael Indiana. He meticulously carves each piece from wax, ensuring that every necklace is unique. This craftsmanship contributes to its authentic ancient beauty.

In Greek mythology, Pontus is recognized as the earliest sea god, born either solely from Gaea, the goddess of the earth, or from the union of Gaea and Aether, the god of light. Together with Thalassa, the goddess of the sea, Pontus is said to have fathered all fish and marine life, as well as possibly the Telchines, who were the original inhabitants of the Island of Rhodes.

Pontus is regarded as the primordial god of the seas and belongs to the Protogenoi, the first generation of deities in the universe. According to Hesiod’s Theogony, he was born either from Gaea, the goddess of the earth, and Aether, the god of heavenly light, or solely from Gaea herself.

In ancient Graeco-Roman mythology, fish are often viewed as symbols of life and fertility in various pagan traditions. They represent femininity, fertility, and reproduction, often embodying higher maternal beauty.

Choosing a fish necklace to symbolize your Pisces zodiac sign, or opt for a koi fish as a token of good luck or perseverance. The PONTUS necklace holds several symbolic meanings and is served as a talismanic amulet.

Every Rafael Indiana product is handcrafted by artisans in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, from wax making each piece unique. We believe it gives the product its authentic ancient beauty. Every design comes with a unique story.
