The ELYSIA cross is set with a combination of light blue aquamarine and vibrant green natural prasiolite gems. Prasiolite is a green variety of quartz, and its name is derived from Greek roots meaning “leek-green stone.” These wonderful colors create a brilliantly light and positive tone, reminiscent of the hues found in depictions of Elysium in Greek mythology, as seen in paintings throughout history. Renowned artists like Raphael, Botticelli, and Titian often painted the heavenly realms of mythology, utilizing these color palettes as their aesthetic choice.

The name “Elysia” has its origins in Latin, derived from the word “Elysium,” meaning heaven or paradise. In ancient Greek and Roman mythology, Elysium referred to a blissful resting place for heroes and virtuous souls after death.

In Greek mythology, Elysium was originally the paradise to which heroes, favored by the gods with immortality, were sent. This concept likely has roots in Minoan religion. In Homer’s writings, the Elysian Plain is described as a land of perfect happiness located at the edge of the Earth, on the banks of Oceanus.

The ELYSIA cross is completely hand-sculpted. Rafael Indiana meticulously hand-carves his necklaces from wax, making each piece unique, which we believe gives it an authentic ancient beauty.

Every Rafael Indiana product is handcrafted by artisans in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, from wax making each piece unique. We believe it gives the product its authentic ancient beauty. Every design comes with a unique story.
