In religious art, four archangels are often depicted: Gabriel, who delivered the news of Christ’s birth to the Virgin Mary; Michael, the dispenser of justice; Rafael, the protector of travelers and a healer; and Uriel, the angel associated with prophecy and wisdom. Among these archangels, Michael holds a special position as the “Chief Angel” in the Latter-Day Saints canon, believed to lead all other angels.
