Hand sculpted with a Swarovski red gemstone. The vivid red gemstone has an intaglio of a rose, eternal symbol of love. Rafael Indiana hand carves his pieces from wax making each piece unique, which we believe is what gives the product its authentic ancient beauty.
When the rose was created by Chloris, from the dead body of a nymph, all agreed it was the most spectacular of flowers. Aphrodite named it and dedicated it to her son, Eros. The latter, to protect his mother's secret affairs offered it to Harpocrates, god of silence, hoping to cover his mother's recent indiscretions. With its beauty, rose was already associated to love, but with this act from Eros, the rose - sub rosa in Latin meaning under the rose - the flower became also linked to secrecy and silent love affairs.
